Hi, I'm Meryl!

I’ve been supporting birthing families in various capacities for almost nine years – first as a birth doula, then as a midwife, then solely as a birth doula again. I discovered a strong pull toward this work following the (wildly different) births of my own three children. In particular, the pregnancy and birth of my first baby – who had serious health problems and was only with us for two days after birth – highlighted for me many areas in which families need support and guidance when navigating the perinatal period and healthcare system. That experience has greatly informed my doula practice and since then it has been my honor to walk alongside many other parents who are
experiencing high-risk, medically complex pregnancies, VBAC and/or expecting after loss.

While I find joy in the physical support aspect of being a doula, I have a particular passion for informed choice and informed consent in all aspects of care. Rather than driving toward any particular birth choice or outcome, I strongly believe that what matters most is that birthing people are empowered to make decisions that are right for them, completely free of judgment and personal bias.

Over the years I have acquired a good deal of knowledge in various holistic and supportive modalities for birthing people, including Spinning Babies, homeopathy and acupressure for labor and birth. My goal is to act as a bridge between you and your care providers, giving you well-rounded, evidence-based support and resources to complement your medical care and take care of all of you.
